Ken Snyder - Progressive By Nature 2007 (stereo)

Sampler of the entire cd - I think every tune is represented here or just about.

1) Pitch Black - For fans of 80s shred and as heard on the Metal Edge cd sampler with Megadeth, Atreyu among others.

2) From The Shadows - Lurking, waiting...

3) Panic Attack - Everyone has had one of these.

4) Time Passages - Named for the upbeat cowbell at the beginning creating an almost clock like tick tock

5) Of Man And Machine - Where Guitars do battle with keyboards in the digital realm

6) Solitude - Sometimes you need a break from everyone

7) Seven - What else would you call the 7th tune of the cd?

8) Progressive By Nature - This is the intro only but it does get going later

9) Back In The Day - A throwback to my 80s roots

10) Downward Spiral - What happens when you d-tune a 7 string already a 1/2 step down...

11) Post Mortem - Once you hit bottom you need to analyze how you got there

12) Equinox - When find the right balance. Done entirely on guitar synth.

Ken Snyder - Nevermore 2005 (mono)

Dream Chaser - A nice shot of adrenaline.

Phoenix Riser - An early favorite so far.

Journey To Nevermore - The sequel to Epic.

Phantasm - Just a little techno.

Free Form - Just as the title says. This one transcends different music styles.

Ken Snyder - One 2003 (mono)

Opening Tip - I always liked uptempo songs to open cds. The title is a nod to my love of basketball.

Ball Buster - This song was dubbed by a former bass player, describing trying to play this song. I finally got around to recording it.

Throwback - A nod to several eras and players. If you could mix Hendrix, Zep, & VH in one song, this is what I think you would end up with.

Shredder's Paradise - Hopefully everyone understands the title is tongue and cheek. I owe a bit of thanks to Coolio for the title. A little shred is a good thing.

Return to Paradise - Got to have the sequel as well!

Epic1 & Epic2 - This song was inspired by Epic movies. It is just a coincidence it is the longest song on the cd. I couldn't decide which part to put up, so I decided to throw up a couple of samples.

Closing Credits - When the movie is over, the credits must roll...

Relics - Here is some stuff from my dark past.

Cut Throat (S/T Debut and Slave)

The last band I was in. We put out two cd's which are still both available on line. Go to www.cutthroatonline.com

Dead Man Walking - We opened a lot of shows with this one. I do the first solo and Darwin DeVitis plays the second solo.

So Far Down - A favorite from the first cd.

Living In Anger - A great live tune. The song featured a harmony solo, but no individual solos. I always thought that was a different approach. This was the sort of stuff we were told NOT to play!

Bullet - Crowd favorite from the first cd. We also did a video for this one as well, which is on our second printing of the debut cd.

Pulling Teeth 1 & 2 - My personal favorite to play from the second cd. The song originated from a soundcheck riff Darwin always used to play, so we built it up from there. The first solo is mine and second solo is Darwin's.

Better Days - Another one from slave. Darwin plays a smokin' solo, but since this is my webpage, I started it at the harmony through my outro solo. Sorry Dar...

For This I Slave - Sort of the title track.

Third Degree - Originally intended for the first cd, we never got around to recording it until the second cd. This song was in a lot of our early shows regardless. This sound byte is the crazy intro with a nod to RacerX If Living In Anger didn't get us in the trouble with the NO GUITAR SOLOS crowd, I'm sure this one did..

Slugfest

This band spent almost a year recording a cd. This was even interupted by the Northridge Quake. A friggin' year!!!! We played one show and called it quits and no one ever heard the band. I am still proud of the stuff, though it is quite dated. It ultimately led to Cut Throat. Special acknowledgement should go out to Michael Parnin, who performed miracles in a 16 track budget studio. Michael has since gone on to be a big time engineer as well as guitarist in Substance D. Another side note... About the time I was finishing up my cd ONE, I stumbled across the mastering notes from this cd. It turned out it was mastered by Paul Tavenner, who was the same guy who mastered One and Cut Throat - Slave. We both got a kick out of that while mastering ONE. I would have never known that it was the same guy otherwise.

Take The Money - This tune I thought set the tone for the whole cd. The middle solo was done with an old studio trick. While I was warming up, Mike hit record and we ended up using that take!

Road To Nowhere - The solo was "orchestrated" using an ebow and whatever tracks we could find. The ebow belonged to the bass player, so I worked out a deal with him for it.... I still have that ebow! Thanks Justin.

Why Did Our Love Go Away - Ok...I admit this is very dated, but I love the tune none the less.

Who Peed in the Pool - This tune was transformed in the studio. Our drummer Ramsay Bisharah, while recording the drums, decided to add a double bass part to the outro. Of course I had to follow suit, so we proceed to overdub a whole bunch of guitar parts over top of that. Remember we only had 16 tracks, so these were on tom tracks, vocal tracks, whatever we could find. Mixing that song was like playing twister. It was totally worth it as it made the track really smoke. Our singer however didn't really care for what we had done to his song! Singers.....

Yesterday's Gone - This originated with Rokkin Horse originally. The lyrics were changed a bit. The drum intro Ramsay played was killer, but due to technology, the recording didn't come out right. One day I am going to go back and put some samples on that.

Rokkin' Horse

This one is going way back. This was the first serious band I had when I got to Los Angeles. I guess you have to be able to laugh at yourself...But at least I got to play The Roxy, The Whisky, Gazzarri's and even the Troubadour. This song was pulled from a compiliation we appeared on in 1990. As always, you think you are the shit, but I listen now and realize we didn't have a clue. The harmony on the solo is played by Todd Brant.
